Safe cycling has been really fun. Last week we started safe cycling I was really bad at the zig zag because I knocked down ten cones. But now I only knock down one or two. I think what I need to get better at is the really narrow U turn.

In these last few days I've been getting better and better especially doing zig zag.In safe cycling I'm working hard on getting the slowest time. The thing I love the most is the T intersection because I'm the pro at,I still need to work on the u turn.

This year, at safe cycling it is fun riding bikes and learning new skills. I improved a lot at learning more skills in the last two weeks. I can go through the zig zag cones without missing one. I need to improve at going slow on the Freeze Frame. Next time when I go safe cycling again I will try to go slow on the Freeze Frame.

This afternoon we did safe cycling. In the slow, balance activity, Kiarn Bartlett got the record breaking time of 22 seconds. I did not know how he did it but he told us the secret. Todays best time person I think was heaps of people. There are 5 activities - the first was zig zag between cones and the second one was a U turn. We had to do it and some people completed it. The third activity was another U turn. The fourth activity was a round about and we had to do our hand signals as well and we had to do it twice around. The fifth thing was riding our bikes in a straight line and our partner had to lift up some cards and we had to say what the vehicle was and me and Navjot completed it. Last but not least it was time for the slow and balanced activity. My best time was 10 seconds.To get better I need to go really slow and keep my balance.

At Safe cycling this morning, the skills that room 13 practiced were zig zag though the cones and the tricky skill was going as slow as you can go. The teacher timed us with a timer. The longest kid in room13 was Kiarn Bartlett. His time 22 seconds. He balanced his bike well and he was making the pedals even.

Broccoli salad recipe

Broccoli Salad

Ingredients
onions
broccoli
cauliflower
cheese
raisins
nuts
seeds
bacon

Ingredients for the sauce
sugar
red wine vinger
mayonnaise

Steps

1.Chop up the onions into small pieces
2.Cut the broccoli
3.Pull apart the cauliflower
4.Place them all into a big bowl
5. Add the cheese, nuts and seeds
6.Mix all of the ingredients together
7.Then to make the dressing
8.Put half of the mayonnaise in a bowl
9.Then add 1 cup of sugar
10.After that you tip in three tablespoons of red wine vinegar
11.Tip all the mixture into the bowl of vegetables
12.Put it into the fridge for an hour
13.Take it out then have a nice feast.

Our fantastic 7's rugby team won a gold medal again at the Commonwealth Games. They have won 3 gold medals at the last 3 commonwealth games.

Why is this a very special achievement? (apparently they have been treated like rock stars in Delhi!)

Last Sunday my mum was making a big chocolate cake. Just then the smell of the burnt bit caught my nose. As I wait, I can hear it popping in the oven. I feel like touching the spongy cake but my hands would get burnt by the chocolate cake. I swallowed down a big bit of mouth-watering cake. I stared at the creamy, gooey icing looking back at me. The creamy icing on my chocolate cake is the best part. I wish my house was made of chocolate!

Chocolate cake is one of the most common cakes in the entire world. It is covered with creamy, soft, chocolate icing. This type of cake smells like scrumptious well baked chocolate. I can hear the 'ding' of the timer in my head when I take the first bite. This lovely cake feels spongy and squishy with gooey icing. Chocolate cake tastes like a wonderful chocolate delight all the way from chocolate heaven. "Chocolate cake for everybody, hurray!"

Today my Mum (the best cook in N.Z.) made a delectable chocolate cake. Whiffing in and out, non-stop to smell of mouth watering chocolate, parachuting to my nose and getting ready to land. Both ears were listening closely. 'DING' went the oven timer. Feeling the spongy cake and the chocolate icing running between my fingers, I looked forward to eating it. My cake is covered in runny, slimy, icky and sticky chocolate icing. It tastes like mouth watering chocolate melting in my mouth between my teeth. "Mum", I said, "that was the best cake in the world."

This term we are learning lots about looking after a garden and we have begun planting our own garden. The following pieces of writing 'explain' how to grow broccoli.
How To Grow Broccoli Broccoli is a vegetable which comes from the Brassica family. It is best to plant your broccoli in early spring because the broccoli does not like it too hot. Before you plant, rake the soil and make 2 rows in the soil, 20cm apart, to get well organised. Always remember to weed the soil so the weeds don't take over. If you pick the broccoli when the florets are tight you will get a good yield. Broccoli is nice in stir fry and salad and heaps of other sorts of foods. Francis

The first step to growing successful broccoli is getting the right tools like a rake. To start you will need to rake all the soil where you are planting. Now we need to make some rows in the soil where you are planting your broccoli. This is to ensure that the vege gets the best amount of space to grow in. When you put the seeds in the row, leave each about 18cm apart. This is so they don't push each other over and don't get too crowded. Remember to only water the broccoli once a week. If weeds start popping up you need to pull them out immediately and do not think, they're just weeds they're not doing any harm, because they will. They will grow big enough to kill the broccoli! The plant likes to grow in cool places and doesn't like to grow in places over 90F. From seed it will take about 45-51 weeks to grow. You can use broccoli for salads, lunches, raw food and cooked.
